How to merge PDF files into one (and split, rotate or number pages)
Application packs, reports and paperwork often end up as a pile of separate PDFs. Merging them into one file is tidier to send, and the same toolkit fixes sideways pages, removes blanks and adds page numbers.
Step by step
- Open the File Editor. Choose Merge PDFs.
- Add your PDFs. Select all the files you want to combine.
- Add them in order. Select the files in the order you want them to appear in the finished PDF.
- Merge and download. Save the combined PDF.
The rest of the PDF toolkit
Split PDF pulls out just the pages you need (for example 1-3, 5, 8-10). Rotate PDF fixes sideways scans. Delete pages removes blanks. Add page numbers numbers every page. Compress PDF shrinks big files for email, and Watermark PDF stamps text such as CONFIDENTIAL across each page.
Other ways to do it
On a Mac, Preview can merge PDFs by dragging pages between the sidebars of two open files. Adobe Acrobat does it with a paid subscription. Postscript's PDF tools come with a one-off Pro payment and work on any computer in a browser.
Questions
Is it free?
The PDF tools are part of Postscript Pro: one payment of $24.99, no subscription. Turning images into a PDF is free.
Is there a limit on how many files I can merge?
There's no set limit. Very large files depend on your device's memory, since everything runs in your browser.
Do I need Adobe Acrobat?
No. It all works in your browser.
Can I merge images and PDFs together?
Turn the images into a PDF first with the free Images → PDF task, then merge the two PDFs.
